Status meetings you can drop
Most weekly status meetings exist because nobody can see where the work is. Make the work visible and you can give the hour back.

A weekly marketing status meeting usually follows the same pattern. Each person says what they are working on. Someone asks about a deadline. Someone else says they are waiting on a review. The meeting ends and everyone knows only a little more than before.
The meeting is not the problem. It is a workaround for a missing view. If you could see every job, who has it and what it is waiting for, most of the talking would not be needed.
What people actually need from a status meeting
- What is moving, so nobody duplicates work.
- What is stuck, and who it is stuck on.
- What is coming next, so people can plan.
None of that needs a call. It needs one board that is always current, and a clear sign for the jobs that are waiting on a person.
A board that replaces the meeting
The simplest useful board has three columns: up next, in progress, and needs you. The last one is the important one. It shows exactly where a job is blocked on a decision, so the conversation becomes "what is in Needs you?" instead of "what is everybody doing?"
Keep each job small enough to finish, give it a short title, and show how many pieces it has and how many are active. Then a glance tells you how big it is and how far along.
What to keep the meeting for
You will still want to meet about priorities, trade-offs and things that are hard to decide in writing. That is a better use of the hour than reading out a list of tasks.
How Levric does it
The Work page in Levric is a board with three columns: Up next, In progress and Needs you. Each job card has a code, a title such as a landing page, a newsletter, a customer story or a webinar follow-up, the number of sub-jobs and how many are active. You can filter by status or search for a job.
Because Chief works from the same board, what you see is what is happening, without anyone having to report it.
